Railway benefits from Allianz Inspection Services Team Community Volunteering Day
The Llanelli and Mynydd Mawr Railway recently benefited from a visit by the Allianz Engineering Inspection Services team for a community volunteering day working alongside L&MMR volunteers on a number of projects at the railways base at Cynheidre.
Mr Mark Baczkiewicz of Allianz commented ‘I must say I enjoyed our day at the Llanelli and Mynydd Mawr Railway very much, the volunteers made the Allianz Engineering Inspection Services team most welcome. It was great to meet up with the team and spend time together, as well as providing a useful boost to the railways manpower and to assist in this growing and exciting local community project’.
The team carried out a number of tasks at Cynheidre, ranging from helping to clear an area of overgrown land in preparation for its use for new customer facilities, through emptying a carriage and making it ready for use by both volunteers and visitors, to creating a Halloween Grotto in one corner of the engine shed! Mark further commented ‘we thoroughly enjoyed our time at your marvellous location, we were made to feel very welcome, and it was great to be able to contribute to a fantastic ongoing project’.
David Mee, a spokesman for the railway, commented ‘we were delighted to host the Allianz Engineering Inspection Services team and are very grateful for the work they carried out on site which is a great help as we strive to improve facilities both for volunteers and visitors to the railway. We are glad they had a good time and hope they might visit us again at some time in the future’.
The railway was also delighted to host a quarterly business meeting by the Allianz team on
the following day.
